Introduction – introduce characters, setting, hint at problem

Describe main problem

Attempts to solve the problem or overcome obstacles – may be one or two events

Solution – most exciting part, describe in slow motion

Ending – how does it resolve

Steps to completing story:

1-  Finish rough draft

2-  Edit work

3-  Write a good copy

4-  Illustrate

Goal:  Pause and describe in three different areas (show not tell using the five senses)

Use a variety of sentence beginnings

Write in paragraphs that flow together

Use descriptive vocabulary

Clear sentence structure, spelling, capital letters and punctuation

Balance of description and dialogue
