Twisted fairy tale unit

Twisted Fairy Tales The grade 5 students will be working on a story telling unit that will cover many of the different areas of ELA such as reading, writing, managing information, speaking and listening.   The first part of the unit will be to explore and plan their stories.   The students will read many different versions of classic fairy tales and brainstorm different ways they may want to re-write it with a twist that means something to them! Planning: Choose two fairy tales to read and answer the following questions: Who is the main character (protagonist) of the story? 1) 2) What is the key setting (time/place) in the story? 1) 2) Who is trying to make problems for the main character (antagonist?) 1) 2) What is the main problem in the story? 1) 2) What is the moral of the story? 1) 2) What is a significant object that plays a part in the story? 1) 2)

Thursday Quiz

There will be a small quiz on Thursday to see what the students have learned around parts of speech as well as synonyms, antonyms, homonyms, prefixes and suffixes We have been practicing in class and there are some fun games to play at home as well if you google "parts of speech games."
